A Shenandoah Valley agri-tourism program is extending its reach to Page County.The Fields of Goldinitiative led by the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission will survey the county’s agricultural businesses for inclusion in the program’s promotional campaign. The survey will include agricultural activities, farm retailers and restaurants featuring local products in the county. Dairy operatorHP Hoodis increasing ultra-high temperature production capacity at its Frederick County facility, adding 75 jobs and investing $84.6 million. The expansion will bring the total employment at the plant to 500. Winchester-basedValley Health Systemis teaming up with Inova Health System. Inova, which has five hospitals in Northern Virginia, and Valley Health, which has six hospitals in Virginia and West Virginia, said they will seek ways to collaborate in clinical research, information technology, population health and clinic service delivery. Under the plan, the health systems will remain separate and be independently governed, and neither entity will have a seat on the other’s board. Waynesboro-basedLumos Networks Corp.signed a multiyear Ethernet network contract with HCA Virginia in Richmond. The network will connect 10 HCA Virginia facilities, satellite offices and critical-care locations to its Richmond Data Center. The project is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2013 and will bring to 17 the number of HCA Virginia facilities connected on Lumos’ fiber network through advanced Ethernet services.
