A natural and organic food producer is moving its operations from North Carolina to Danville.
Sky Valley Foods, which makes sauces and salad dressings, is relocating to the Airside Industrial Park in Danville.
Production at a 132,000-square-foot building on Cane Creek Boulevard in the park will begin by late fall with 60 employees. The company expects to have 100 employees by the end of next year.
With the relocation, the company expects to expand its business and add new product lines.
Sky Valley’s products include condiments, marinades, salsa and pasta sauce under the Bella’s, Organicville, Sky Valley and Simply Delicious brands.
The company was formed in 2011 with the merger of Wizard’s Cauldron of Yanceyville, N.C., and Organicville Foods of Milwaukee. The combined company has been based in Yanceyville.
Sky Valley will move into a location in the industrial park formerly occupied by Amcor Tobacco Packaging and Shorewood Packaging Corp.
The building has been vacant since April 2013. The Danville Industrial Development Authority bought the site and will lease it to Sky Foods.
The Sky Valley deal involved no state incentives, but Danville is providing $100,000 to defray the cost of installing floor drains throughout the building.
