In 1996, when Stevenson co-founded international debt-buying business PRA Group, he had a vision of building an altruistic company. And in May, the Hampton Roads Community Action Program presented Stevenson with a Community Builders Award, which recognizes individuals making a positive impact on the region.
Over the years, PRA Group has donated more than $10 million to various nonprofits. Recently, it gave $50,000 to assist employees in its Poland office provide aid to refugees from Ukraine.
Stevenson became president and CEO of PRA Group in 2017. He made $5.6 million in total compensation in 2021.
The PRA Group earned $1.1 billion last year, a 3% increase over 2020. The company operates in 18 countries and has more than 3,500 employees.
BEST ADVICE FOR OTHERS: I tell young people coming into the workforce to be patient. You are not going to be CEO in two weeks. Focus on doing an excellent job in your current position while keeping your eyes open for additional opportunity.
