Schiavon, who joined Elephant Auto Insurance in 2017 as its head of marketing and pricing, became CEO just eight months later.
The Italian executive (who shares a name with an Italian Olympic snowboarder) earned his MBA from the University of Manchester in England and his undergraduate engineering degree at the University of Padova in Italy. He worked almost five years for Elephant’s British parent company, Admiral Group, starting as international pricing manager in 2012 and quickly becoming its head of sales.
Founded in 2009, Elephant insured 240,000 vehicles across eight states by the end of 2022. But Admiral Group reported Elephant had an overall loss of about $53.7 million in 2022, an increase from its 2021 loss of about $15.5 million.
