Leonardo DRS went public in November 2022, with Lynn ringing the closing bell at the Nasdaq, after the completion of a merger with Israel-based Rada Electronic Industries. Leonardo DRS’ parent company, Italian defense contractor Leonardo SpA, retains 80.5% ownership of the $3 billion company. Lynn joined the defense contractor in 2012, after serving as a senior executive for Raytheon and leading the Pentagon’s workforce as the Department of Defense’s chief operating officer. He also served as counsel for U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy on the Senate Armed Services Committee from 1987 to 1993. During President Barack Obama’s first term, Lynn was deputy secretary of defense, and he has received several federal government awards for public service.
In October 2022, Leonardo DRS received a $579 million Army contract, and it sold its satellite business to Reston-based SES Government Solutions in August 2022 for $450 million.
Lynn has a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, a master of public affairs degree from Princeton and a law degree from Cornell Law School.
