Federal Contractors | Technology 2023: GREG BARONI 

Philanthropist, entrepreneur, sports team owner and tech executive Baroni co-founded McLean-based Attain LLC, a management, tech and compliance consulting firm, in 2009. The company split in 2021, selling its federal arm to Reston-based health care company Maximus for $430 million. Attain’s remaining education, nonprofit, health care and state and local government sectors now operate privately under Attain Partners.

In late 2022, Baroni and his wife, Camile, donated $7 million to George Mason University’s Center for Government Contracting, which now bears the couple’s name. It is the largest gift to a center within GMU’s business school.

Baroni also founded private equity investment firm Attain Capital Partners, which invests in growth-stage knowledge-based companies. Additionally, he founded and serves as CEO for Attain Sports and Entertainment, which owns three baseball teams in Maryland, including the Baltimore Orioles’ Class AA affiliate Bowie Baysox. In February, Baroni purchased a controlling stake in Leesburg-based Loudoun United FC, a second-division professional men’s soccer team, launched by Major League Soccer team D.C. United. And in May, Baroni and D.C. United’s ownership partnered to launch Super League Washington, D.C., a professional women’s team.

Baroni is chair emeritus of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
