Social media giant Facebook is making another major investment in Henrico County.
Facebook will invest $750 million to expand its planned data center at the White Oak Technology Park from two to five buildings. This is in addition to the $1 billion investment in Henrico that Facebook announced last year.
The company will construct three additional 500,000 square-foot buildings, bringing the planned total square footage to more than 2.4 million square feet.
Facebook anticipates that the expanded site will support more than 1,500 jobs during construction and 200 jobs once it opens. Construction is expected to continue until at least 2020.
“The first phase of the project is well underway, and Henrico County is excited for the additional jobs and investment that this significant expansion will bring,” Tyrone E. Nelson, a Henrico County Supervisor representing Varina, said in a statement.
