Richmond Black Restaurant Experience

Date & Time

Sunday Mar 01, 2020 - Sunday Mar 08 , 2020
, VA
United States

The Richmond Black Restaurant Experience is a celebratory week dedicated to supporting Richmond’s black-owned restaurants, food truck/cart operators, caterers, local chefs and promoting the Richmond regions growing culinary tourism scene. It aims to counter economic disparity within minority-owned businesses with fun and interactive solutions that engage, excite and ignite a deeper understanding and love of Richmond food culture.

Culture meets cuisine from March 1 – 8 as over 20 African American-owned Richmond businesses participate in welcoming locals and visitors alike to taste unique and culturally driven meals.

Through a variety of curated dining experiences that also infuse fashion, art, music and culture such as the Mobile Soul Sunday, Afrikana Film Festival, Stick A Fork in It and Art For The Soul, the Black Restaurant Experience offers something to satisfy every attendee’s interests and taste buds.

Some of the restaurants participating in this year’s experience include Mama J’s, a family-operated restaurant located in Historic Jackson Ward, offering Richmond’s premier soul food and celebrating the family tradition of going to grandma’s house for Sunday dinner; Spoonbread Bistro, whose unique dishes of southern cuisine blended with European accents and warm environment make it a dining destination must in Richmond’s historic Fan neighborhood, and Minibar RVA, an intimate place for craft cocktails and new American cuisine with a southern influence and international twist.
