Euro Composites Corp. of Culpeper, in association with R. E. Lee & Son Inc. in Charlottesville, will partner to construct a 51,174-square-foot manufacturing building in Elkwood. It will be the company's third addition to its only U S. manufacturing complex at that location.
Hall 4 will be a $5.36 million design-build project for a new hall comprising 39,200 square feet of production space and 11,974 square feet of offices. It's part of a $10.5 million investment Euro is making to expand its U. S. operation in Culpeper County.
Construction is expected to start in April and be completed in January 2017.
This is the sixth project that Euro-Composites, a manufacturer of complex composite projects, and R. E. Lee & Son have done together.
“We will be breaking ground this spring on our newest production facility. We will add additional floor space, additional manufacturing capability and, of course, new jobs in our community,” Michael Graham, president and chief operating officer of the U. S. operation of Euro-Composites, said in a statement. “Euro Composites Group is committed to the long-term growth of its U.S. business here in Virginia.”
The project is expected to add 58 new jobs, and will add new equipment to increase production of composite-based parts associated with the aerospace industry.
The design team for the project includes:
• Hinchey & Baines PLC, Civil engineering, Culpeper
• Richard S. Boyd Architects, Nellysford
• Moore’s Electrical & Mechanical, Altivista
