Emser Tile plans to invest $16.25 million to establish an East Coast distribution center in Suffolk.
The facility in the city’s CenterPoint Intermodal Center is expected to create 98 jobs.
Emser is a major designer, marketer and producer of tile and natural stone.
Founded in 1968, Los Angeles-based Emser offers interior and exterior products, including porcelain, ceramic, natural stone metal and glass. Its products are used in residential and commercial projects.
Gov. Terrry McAuliffe approved a $250,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist Suffolk with the project.
The company also will receive benefits from the Port of Virginia Economic and Infrastructure Development Zone Grant Program, and funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
