Emory & Henry names dean for upcoming business school

Emory & Henry College announced Monday that Emmett Tracy has been appointed as dean of its new School of Business, which will be built on the former site of Carriger Hall at the college in Washington County. Until the business school opens at an unannounced date, McGlothlin Street Hall will be home for the business school and Tracy.

Tracy was most recently the executive vice president of academic affairs and dean of the school of business at the Mauritius-based African Leadership University. He also previously served as dean of postgraduate studies for the Cambridge campus of Hult International Business School and as CEO and strategy director for Dublin-based KaffeeHouse Digital Ltd., which focuses on marketing analytics and artificial intelligence language learning platforms.

“He will bring a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a record of building programs that will serve us well and I look forward to working with him and members of the team that we will be developing to create the School of Business as another signature component of Emory & Henry College,” Provost Michael J. Puglisi said in a statement.

Tracy earned his bachelor’s degree in classics from Williams College, his master’s degree in language studies from Columbia University, his doctorate in classics from Trinity College and his master’s degree in business administration from INSEAD. He currently serves on the Board for Uniform Adjusted Financial Reporting Standards and Executive Committee at the African Leadership University.

“We know the strength of the School of Business and its integration with other departments on campus will be an asset to future students and their preparation for the world of work integrated with connected liberal arts,” Puglisi said in a statement. “We know the impact on our region and world will benefit from our E&H graduates.”
