Easton Porter Group (EPG), a luxury hospitality company based in Charlottesville, has acquired its sixth East Coast property – the Blackthorne Inn in Upperville. The company said it plans to invest $15 million in the property. EPG plans to close the hotel in January for renovations and investments in a new culinary program and cooking school, a winery and hotel villas. The inn will reopen in September 2017with a new name.
Blackthorne Inn is a country resort located 60 miles from Washington, D.C., in Virginia’s horse country. It includes a stone building constructed in 1763 that houses a bar and restaurant and hotel cabin suites in a wooded, rural setting.
The hotel will continue to operate under its current name through this fall.
Inc. magazine recently ranked Easton Porter Group No. 910 on Inc. Magazine’s 35th annual Inc. 5000, a list of the nation's 5000 fastest-growing private companies.
The company owns other properties in Virginia, including Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards and Red Pump Kitchen in the Charlottesville area. It's also part owner of Virginia Wine Works in Charlottesville.
