Eastern Mennonite University President Susan Schultz Huxman has been appointed to a second five-year term, the Harrisonburg-based private liberal arts university announced Tuesday.

Huxman began her first term on Jan. 1, 2017. The university board of trustees unanimously approved the appointment, which will be effective Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2025.

Her presidential and board leadership were assessed by an ad hoc committee in spring 2020, which led to her reappointment. During her tenure, Huxman led the creation of a new strategic plan, vision statement and branding for the university. She has also worked to better the fiscal health of the university.

Huxman earned her bachelor’s degree from Bethel College, and her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Kansas.
