Stone joined Dewberry in 2008, serving as the firm’s chief operating officer and infrastructure engineering services practice area leader until he was promoted to CEO in 2010.
With more than three decades of professional engineering experience, Stone leads and implements Dewberry’s corporate and market strategies and growth initiatives. The company employs 700-plus people in Virginia and created a flood plan for the city of Virginia Beach. Dewberry also won a state contract to develop a coastal resilience master plan.
A retired U.S. Army captain who graduated with a degree in civil engineering from The Citadel, Stone was inducted into its School of Engineering’s Academy of Engineers in 2020.

PERSON I ADMIRE: My father was a great life example. And my mother-in-law. She graduated from Penn State with a bachelor of science in home economics, the only degree offered to her. She went on to work for Hershey and used her chemistry studies to develop recipes still in use today. She was a hard worker and a great role model for my wife, daughters and grandchildren.
