Richmond-based Dominion Energy Inc. announced Wednesday that Felicia Howard has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president of economic development strategy, effective Jan. 1.

Howard most recently served as vice president of gas operations for Dominion Energy South Carolina, but will be based in Richmond for her new role. She will oversee Dominion’s local, regional and state economic development efforts.

“To be entrusted with such an important responsibility for both our company and our customers is humbling,” Howard said in a statement. “I look forward to developing an even more comprehensive and proactive economic development strategy that will benefit hundreds of thousands of our customers across Dominion Energy’s footprint.”

Howard joined Dominion in 2019 through Dominion’s acquisition of SCANA Corp., where she had worked since 1992. Dominion acquired SCANA Corp. for $7.9 billion in an all-stock deal in January 2019, which has come under scrutiny due to a failed nuclear project.

Howard earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering and her master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina.
