Dollar Tree COO named president

Gary Philbin, Dollar Tree’s chief operating officer, has been promoted to COO and president, the Chesapeake-based company announced Monday. He has served as COO since 2007.

Philbin joined Dollar Tree as senior vice president of stores in 2001. Prior to that, he held senior-level positions in merchandising and operations. Bob Sasser continues to be the company’s CEO.

Dollar Tree is a Fortune 500 company that operates 4,768 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
