The leader of a McLean-based IT staffing and consulting company has been named Entrepreneur of the Year of the Greater Washington, D.C. region by the accounting firm of Ernst and Young.
Mahfuz Ahmed is the founder and CEO of Digital Intelligence Systems LLC. The Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes significant contributions of entrepreneurs who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement, Ernst and Young said in a statement.
Under Mahfuz, DISYS has maintained an annual growth rate of 30 percent and now serves more than 300 clients including many Fortune 500 Companies, Ernst and Young said. In 2012, the company acquired Conversion Services International Inc., a New Jersey-based provider of information management and business process optimization solutions.
In 2012, DISYS also received a $20 million growth equity investment. The investment allowed the firm to target strategic acquisitions and provided a richer service portfolio to its clients.
The company recently opened offices in Columbus, Ohio, and has 36 offices around the world.
