The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) has launched a project to help CPAs find solutions in two key areas: technology and talent.

The VSCPA Center for Innovation is designed to provide its members with resources and programs to help them tackle technology and talent issues.

The center, for example, will assist members in adapting and embracing rapidly changing technologies. The center also is expected to help members strengthen their leadership skills and learn about trends in developing talent and building a thriving workplace.

“This is a pivotal moment for the CPA profession, as technology advancements, shifting demographics and the rapid pace of change create unprecedented opportunities,” VSCPA President and CEO Stephanie Peters said in a statement. “The Society is committed to helping our members be future-ready by driving innovation in technology and talent development. Through the Center, we aim to provide a roadmap and resources CPAs need to make themselves indispensable in the business climate of the future.”

The Center for Innovation’s strategic direction is led by an advisory council of CPAs and other leaders in technology, talent, innovation, change management and accounting.

Some of the center’s initial activities include a cybersecurity summit, two new awards celebrating innovation and diversity in the CPA profession and a new peer-to-peer learning program called Xchange.

The center also will roll out technology and talent partnerships, such as a Dale Carnegie leadership development certificate and a MindBridge learning program on artificial intelligence and data analytics.

Founded in 1909, the VSCPA has more than 13,500 members who work in public accounting, industry, government and education.
