Charlottesville-based Commonwealth Assisted Living has acquired Meadow Glen of Richmond, an assisted-living community in western Henrico County, from Meadow Glen of West End LP.

The community will be rebranded as Commonwealth Assisted Living at the West End, becoming Commonwealth’s 21st senior-living community in Virginia.

Financial details of the deal were not released.

Commonwealth plans to renovate the Henrico property, with new furniture, paint, carpet and other improvements. The community also will see additional assisted-living apartments as well as a secured memory-care neighborhood.

The facility is Commonwealth’s second in the Richmond area. The first was Commonwealth Assisted Living at Chesterfield, which was acquired last year. It also has undergone significant renovations and expansion.

Commonwealth expects to make additional acquisitions this year.
