Golden, Colo.-based HomeAdvisor has acquired a majority stake in Fairfax-based Mhelpdesk, a cloud-based workflow application.
HomeAdvisor is a website and mobile app provider offering resources for home repair and improvement projects. It is an operating business of IAC.
Mhelpdesk helps small to medium-sized, field-service businesses streamline their operations, including managing work orders, scheduling and invoicing,
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The market for field service management solutions is rapidly evolving and poised to revolutionize the home service industry,” Chris Terrill, CEO of HomeAdvisor, said in a statement. “In our view, Mhelpdesk is both the clear leader in its space and the perfect fit for the HomeAdvisor marketplace. This acquisition is part of the continuing transformation of HomeAdvisor into the leading marketplace for homeowners to hire local home services and for home service professionals to market and manage their businesses.”
Founded in 2009, Mhelpdesk has grown at an accelerating rate during the past 12 months, adding more than 1,000 new businesses per month.
The software will be available to HomeAdvisor service professional members as part of a membership package starting in January.
Mhelpdesk will operate as an independent business under HomeAdvisor and Vincent Wong, CEO of Mhelpdesk, will continue to run operations from Mhelpdesk’s headquarters in Fairfax.
