Campbell will not retire until a successor is named.
The search committee will be led by Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman of the Colonial Williamsburg Board of Trustees, who is chairman, president and chief executive of Richmond-based Dominion Resources.
Other members of the committee include trustees Pamela Flaherty of New York, N.Y.; Steven Miller of Houston; Cynthia Milligan of Lincoln, Neb.; Andrea Mitchell of Washington, D.C.; Thomas Norment of Williamsburg; Barbara Oberg of Princeton, N.J.; and Henry Wolf of Virginia Beach.
