Lemaire Restaurant’s award-winning executive chef Walter Bundy announced plans Tuesday to open a restaurant in spring 2016 at Libbie Mill-Midtown, a new 80-acre, mixed-use community under development in Henrico County.
The restaurant will occupy 5,872 square feet at 4901 Libbie Mill East Blvd., located near the entrance of the mixed-use project on Staples Mill Road.
Bundy said in a news release that his concept includes a private dining room, extended bar and outdoor patio. The Southern-inspired restaurant will feature local ingredients and seasonal cuisine.
Two organizations, Gumenick Properties — the project’s developer — and Richmond Memorial Health Foundation, currently occupy office space on the second floor of the building where the restaurant will be located.
Bundy, who has headed the Lemaire kitchen at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond since 2001, has received many accolades through the years, including a “Best New Restaurant” Award from Esquire magazine and write-ups in national publications.
“I am very excited about all aspects of creating a new restaurant, especially continuing my love for local and seasonal ingredients,” Bundy said in a news release.
He plans to stay at Lemaire through the end of the year.
