Assembly OKs waiver for temporary Chesapeake jail
RICHMOND Both houses of the General Assembly agreed today to let Chesapeake receive a waiver from state construction requirements that would enable the city to house inmates in its temporary jail facilities. The city spent $8 million on temporary steel buildings to ease overcrowding in the city jail without getting the required authorization from the state Department of Corrections.

The Virginia Department of Taxation issued a warning Wednesday related to the state’s new debit card for tax refunds. The card is formally known as the Virginia Tax Refund Debit Card and is sometimes referred to as the Way2Go card.
