Assembly approves moratorium on drones in Virginia

RICHMOND Virginia lawmakers have approved a two-year moratorium on the use of drones by police and government agencies. The House of Delegates voted 83-16 to pass the bill Tuesday. The Senate voted 36-2 to approve a similar measure.

RICHMOND Legislation to require drug screening of welfare recipients has failed by one vote in the Virginia Senate. All 20 Democrats voted against the measure today in the evenly divided Senate. Republican Sen. Harry Blevins of Virginia Beach did not vote, denying the GOP a 20th vote that would have allowed Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling to break the tie.
