RICHMOND The 2013 General Assembly achieved something Saturday that has eluded Virginia legislators for more than a quarter-century: a deal on a sweeping revenue package to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for state road needs.
What does transportation package mean locally?
What will it cost me? The landmark transportation funding package that passed the General Assembly is projected to inject $3.5 billion into Virginia's transportation coffers over five years. Higher regional taxes in the legislation are expected to deliver an extra $173 million to $219 million annually to Hampton Roads, and $300 million to $350 million per year to Northern Virginia.
