Governor OKs Lyme disease information measure

Gov. Bob McDonnell signed legislation this week that requires doctors to inform patients who are tested for Lyme disease that early tests are sometimes inaccurate and that more testing might be needed if symptoms persist. Doctors must begin providing the information to patients on July 1. Lyme disease is caused by a tick bite and is typically treated with antibiotics for less than a month.

Appeals court strikes down Virginia anti-sodomy law

RICHMOND A federal appeals court has ruled Virginia's anti-sodomy law unconstitutional. A divided three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that the law against oral and anal sex violates the constitution's due process clause. The court based its decision on the landmark 2003 U.S. Supreme Court striking down an anti-sodomy law in Texas.
