Howell easily wins 90th House District primary

NORFOLK For the second time, Virginia Del. Algie Howell Jr. defeated retired Norfolk police officer Rick James for the Democratic nomination in the 90th House District. Howell won roughly 69 percent of the vote to James’ 31 percent, according to unofficial results.

In obscure off-year primary, paltry turnout likely

RICHMOND With the major party gubernatorial choices for this fall settled, a paltry turnout is expected today as Virginia Democrats pick their down-ballot nominees and nominations are decided for 11 contested House of Delegates seats. Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe are already nominees for governor, leaving the off-year primary without its marquee races.
