Governor’s former chef wants his case tossed

The stakes are high for Gov. Bob McDonnell and Ken Cuccinelli, the Republican seeking to succeed him, at a Richmond Circuit Court hearing today, where neither man is expected to be present. In court, lawyers for the governor's former chef will argue for the dismissal of charges of embezzling state property on the basis that he had permission to take those goods as payment for his services.

RICHMOND Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is getting advice from a high-powered Washington lawyer amid questions about gifts he and his family have received during his term. McDonnell tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that Emmet T. Flood is advising him. He says he believes it was proper for him to seek legal counsel.

Va. mansion director subpoenaed in ex-chef’s case

RICHMOND, Va. The director of Virginia's Executive Mansion has been subpoenaed to testify in the embezzlement case against the mansion's former chef. A defense witness list filed Wednesday in Richmond Circuit Court says Sarah Scarbrough has been called to testify at Monday's hearing on a motion to dismiss four felony charges against Todd Schneider.

RICHMOND A new online resource is available for Virginia professionals who deal with sexual and domestic violence. The attorney general's office announced the establishment of the Community Solutions to Sexual and Domestic Violence website Wednesday. It's a clearinghouse that includes training materials, evaluation tools, conference announcements, brochures, model policies and other resources.
