Richmond-based CarMax has elected Marcella Shinder, chief marketing officer at New York-based Nielsen N.V., to its board of directors.
She will serve on CarMax’s audit committee, bringing the total number of directors on the board to 11.
Shinder has been with Nielsen, which provides consumer and media insights, since 2011. Previously, she spent 18 years at American Express, serving in a variety of executive roles including head of global marketing and head of brand management and social media.
Shinder earned a Master of Business Administration from New York University, a Master of Arts from Villanova University and a bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University.
CarMax, a Fortune 500 company, is the nation’s largest retailer of used vehicles.
