Sunnyvale, California-based publicly traded cybersecurity company Fortinet announced Tuesday it has acquired Herndon-based cloud security company OPAQ Networks.

A transaction amount was not disclosed.

OPAQ Networks is a venture-backed company that raised $22.5 million in Series B financing in 2018, led by Greenspring Associates. Columbia Capital and Harmony Partners also provided financing.

Fortinet made the purchase of OPAQ Networks to enhance its Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) services, which also provides cloud protection services.

“In the era of hyperconnectivity and expanding networks, with the network edge stretching across the entire digital infrastructure, networking and security must converge,” Ken Xie, Fortinet founder, chairman of the board and CEO, said in a statement. “Now, we will deliver … networking offerings that can all be delivered to customers and partners through a flexible, cost-efficient and patented zero-trust cloud architecture.”

Founded in 2000, Fortinet provides services to more than 455,000 customers. The company reported more than $2 billion in revenue last year.
