Cabela’s 82,000-square-foot store in Henrico County will open to the public on April 6.   Construction on the store for the specialty outdoor retailer has been underway for months. Located in the West Broad Marketplace shopping center in Short Pump, the project is part of a new mixed-use retail project under development by Vienna-based NVRetail at the intersection of West Broad Street and Cold Hill Lane.

Cabela’s is offering a sneak preview to the media on March 22 to check out some signature offerings. They include a replica of a mountain, wildlife displays, an aquarium and indoor archery range. Cabala’s said it has employed 150 full-time, part-time workers and seasonal workers to operate the store.

As part of an expansion, it has other stores going up across the country. Cabela’s already has opened a store in The Falls development in Bristol, Va. Another store in Gainesville is scheduled to open in spring 2017. It will be the first Cabela's location in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

The Gainesville store will be located adjacent to Virginia Gateway Center, a 1.3 million-square-foot mixed-use shopping center.
