BWX Technologies hires former Orbital ATK executive

BWX Technologies Inc. has hired a former executive of Dulles-based Orbital ATK to serve as general counsel.

Thomas McCabe has been named senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary for Lynchburg-based BWXT.

McCabe most recently was executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of Orbital ATK, a 13,000-employee, publicly traded company focused on space, defense and aviation. He also previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Alion Science and Technology Corp. and for Braintech Inc. as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.

McCabe’s career also includes positions with XM Satellite Radio, COBIS Corp., several law firms and what is now AT&T Government Solutions.

He graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in English and went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame Law School where he received his law degree. He also received a master’s of business administration from the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business.

BWXT is a major supplier of nuclear components and fuel to the U.S. government.
