Burns & McDonnell, a Kansas City, Mo.-based architectural and engineering firm, has relocated operations in Roanoke, with plans to more than triple the size of its local workforce in three years.
The firm’s new office occupies nearly all of a 20,000-square-foot floor in the One Ten Franklin Building in Roanoke.
The office houses 35 employees and has room to accommodate 100.
Burns & McDonnell opened a Roanoke office in 2015 with just six employees.
The Roanoke expansion is part of a nationwide effort by the firm to hire 1,000 new employees annually.
Burns & McDonnnell has a global workforce of 7,000 people.
The firm is employee-owned.
