Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday for its latest medical project, the $20 million Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Plaza in Suffolk.

The 58,000-square-foot building will house the Bon Secours Cancer Institute at Harbour View and is scheduled to open in fall 2016.  The health-care providers at the facility will make diagnoses, provide outpatient treatment and offer follow up care.

“At the core of Bon Secours’s mission is the goal to build and develop healthier communities,” Michael K. Kerner, CEO, Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System, said in a statement.  “The Bon Secours Medical Plaza will create a comfortable and efficient environment for care, consultation and treatment.  We are pleased and proud it will soon be here to enhance overall access to care.”

The groundbreaking will be held at 10 a.m., just east of the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View at 7185 Harbour Towne Parkway.

Guest speakers will include Suffolk Mayor Linda T. Johnson and Bon Secours senior leadership.
