Bon Secours Virginia’s Employee Wellness program received the 2015 Game Changer award in Employee Health on Thursday at the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s health-care conference in Richmond.

Bon Secours’ Cindy Stutts accepted the award on behalf of the Richmond-based health system.

The Virginia Center for Health Innovation (VCHI) created the awards program last year to recognize businesses in the commonwealth that have implemented outstanding, value-driven employee health strategies.

To win the award, a strategy must engage employees in health care decision-making, improve their health, and improve the value of the organization's investment in employee health.

Beth Bortz, the president and CEO of VCHI, said in a statement that this year’s finalists “are actively creating and sustaining a culture of health for their employees.  They are partnering with other like-minded organizations to leverage their investment and impact.  They are measuring their impact — using both quantitative and qualitative indicators — to ensure that they are making a significant difference in the health of their employees.  Simply put, they are changing employee health for the better.”

Besides Bon Secours, the finalists were:
• Nova Medical Group: Vibrance 180
• Sentara: Mission Health
• Virginia Beach Fire Department: Peer Fitness Trainers

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America is the award’s sponsor.  Virginia Business is the media sponsor.
