McLean tech, logistics provider names chief HR officer

McLean-based technology and logistics services provider OBXtek Inc. announced Friday that Sharon Harrington has been promoted to chief human resources officer.

Harrington joined the company five years ago and has implemented an HR information system, a learning management system and an applicant tracking system. She most recently served as senior vice president of human resources. In her new role, she will be responsible for human resources strategy, including talent management, leadership development and compensation and benefits.

“Sharon has been a champion in supporting our employees,” OBXtek President and CEO Dale Spencer said in a statement. “Her leadership and dedication during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in an employee-focused response that ensured our personnel have the resources they need.”

During her human resources career, she has also worked with Circle Solutions Inc. and Dynamic Systems Technology Inc. She served as director for the U.S. Air Force’s customer college at Ramstein Air Base in Baumholder, Germany, and managed a contractual transition program for U.S. Army forces deployed to Germany during her time with Serco Services Inc.

Harrington earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her master’s degree in business administration from Southwest Texas State University.

Founded in 2009 as a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, OBXtek now employs more than 500 people.
