Roanoke-based accounting firm Brown Edwards LLP acquired tax, audit and business consulting firm Mitchell Wiggins on Nov. 1.
With offices in metro Richmond and the Petersburg/Tri-Cities areas, Mitchell Wiggins will bring six partners and 47 team members to Brown Edwards.
Brown Edwards will have an office in the former Mitchell Wiggins space in Richmond, with a satellite client meeting location at the existing Brown Edwards office in Midlothian. The acquisition will also result in Brown Edwards’ first office in the Petersburg area. In total, Brown Edwards’ combined Richmond-area operation will employ 70 professionals, totaling more than 400 workers firmwide.
“We are very excited to join Brown Edwards. In going through the due diligence process, it became very apparent that the mission and culture of our firms are in alignment,” David Reardon said in a statement.
Reardon had been the managing partner of Mitchell Wiggins and will serve as the metro Richmond area coordinator for Brown Edwards.
“Brown Edwards is thrilled to bring a firm with a reputation as solid and strong as Mitchell Wiggins into our practice,” Brown Edwards CEO Jason Hartman said in a statement. “Our acquisition of Gregg & Bailey in early 2020, and the ongoing client service they have delivered since then, has positioned us well to expand further in the Richmond area. The size and strength of the combined Mitchell Wiggins and Brown Edwards operations will allow us to continue to offer more client-focused expertise with a deeper bench to serve all of our clients going forward.”
