How has immigration policy changed with the new White House administration?

The biggest change that we are seeing right now is the return of prosecutorial discretion in removal cases. Several illogical attorney general opinions related to asylum have also been overturned. Unfortunately, human rights violations continue every day, including Title 42 expulsions at the border and the MPP (Migrant Protection Protocols or Remain in Mexico) program.

You were previously with the Fairfax County’s public defender office. What did you learn from that role?

So much! My trial skills, ability to evaluate the strength of a case, and ability to analyze and present evidence all come from that time. There is no better job for getting comfortable in a courtroom and learning to think on your feet. I pull from that experience every time I sit down to prepare a case or walk into a courtroom.
