Va. Beach-based Fortis acquires Illinois packaging company

Virginia Beach-based packaging manufacturer Fortis Solutions Group LLC has acquired Montgomery, Illinois-based Identi-Graphics Inc., the company announced Tuesday in a news release.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Identi-Graphics manufactures pressure-sensitive labels and flexible packaging for the snack, bakery, cosmetic and chemical markets in the United States and Canada. It specializes in printing bar wrappers under heat as well as cold-seal applications for the nutritional supplement industry.

“Fortis is excited to bolster its flexible packaging and label capabilities in key end markets with the acquisition of Identi-Graphics,” Fortis Solutions Group President and CEO John O. Wynne Jr. said in a statement. “With its great technical aptitude and central location, Identi-Graphics is well positioned for future growth. We welcome the experienced Identi-Graphics team and look forward to working with them.”

Fortis employs more than 1,200 people at 20 manufacturing sites across the country and is pursuing acquisitions to advance its products in locations serving its customer base. The acquisition adds about 20 new employees to Fortis. Identi-Graphics’ owner and president, Terry Strong, is retiring and the company’s remaining staff will retain their current positions.

“The Identi-Graphics team is thrilled to be joining with John Wynne and Fortis Solutions Group,” Strong said in a statement. “After 32 years of building the business, I am confident that we have found the ideal partner to continue to succeed and grow in the flexible packaging market.”
