Chesapeake-based synthetic paper manufacturer Yupo Corp. America has named Byron E. Bassett as its new president and CEO.
Bassett joins Yupo from North Carolina-based Precision Fabrics Group Inc., where he served as corporate vice president. Bassett replaces Andre Fischbach, who had been in the top spot since 2016.
“Byron is a recognized business leader with extensive experience in building profitable companies and highly functioning organizations for companies with locations in the United States, Europe and Asia,” Fischbach said in a statement. “His arrival is fortuitous during this period of global supply chain challenges and we look forward to his leadership as we grow our business in a post-COVID world.”
Bassett earned his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Bryan School of Business and Economics, as well as a postgraduate certificate in corporate financial analysis. He received his undergraduate degree in industrial engineering and operations research from Virginia Tech.
