McLean-based global management consultant Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. announced Wednesday that it plans to acquire EverWatch, a Reston-based government solutions contractor. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal will allow Booz Allen to speed delivery of classified software development and analytics capabilities for national security clients and complements its artificial intelligence and cyber portfolio, the Fortune 500 company said in a news release.
It is expected to close in the first quarter of Booz Allen’s fiscal 2023, which runs from April 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
EverWatch provides intelligence, defense and mission solutions for national security agencies. It was founded in 2017 and is a portfolio company of private investment firm Enlightenment Capital, which provides capital and strategic support to companies in aerospace, defense, government and technology.
After the deal closes, EverWatch will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Booz Allen and work with its national security sector led by Judi Dotson, executive vice president of the firm’s national security business.
“U.S. national and economic security depends on secure, trusted and resilient technology, and in the most dynamic threat landscape of our time, delivering advanced solutions with speed and agility is essential for mission success,” Dotson said. “Combining Booz Allen’s mission experience and advanced technologies with EverWatch’s classified software development and analytics capabilities will help implement faster and more comprehensive solution delivery to help defense and intelligence agencies transform and stay ahead of threats.”
McLean-based Fortune 500 global management consultant Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. won a potential $74.7 million contract with the U.S. Navy to support the Program Executive Office Unmanned and Small Combatants (PEO USC) mission, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Friday.
Under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, Booz Allen Hamilton will provide a single program executive for the PEO USC that will be responsible for end-to-end acquisition and maintenance of the mission capabilities of the littoral combat ship-class — a class of small surface combatants designed for near-shore environments.
Work is expected to be completed by April 2023 and will be performed in McLean and at the Washington Navy Yard.
With $7.5 billion in fiscal 2020 revenue, Booz Allen employs more than 27,600 workers globally, with about 10,000 employed in Virginia.
Mara Motherway joined Peraton Inc. in September as the Herndon-based federal contractor’s senior vice president of government and customer relations, a newly created position. She comes from Booz Allen Hamilton, where she served as vice president for government relations and military affairs.
Motherway reports to Mike King, Peraton’s executive vice president and chief growth officer, and is responsible for Peraton’s public policy and government affairs strategies, according to a news release from the company.
Earlier this year, Peraton completed both the $7.1 billion purchase of Chantilly federal IT contractor Perspecta Inc. and the $3.4 billion acquisition of Northrop Grumman Corp.’s federal IT and mission support services business, with the backing of Peraton parent company Veritas Capital, a New York-based private equity firm.
“Peraton has grown in 2021 to become our nation’s largest mission capability integrator and transformative enterprise IT provider,” Chairman, President and CEO Stu Shea said in a statement. “Having a strong government relations function under a proven leader will ensure Peraton continues to align its mission to the national security objectives of our policymakers. I’m excited to welcome Mara to the company at such a critical time. Her decades of experience in national security and track record of success in the government affairs arena will scale this capability and be a force multiplier for our business.”
Motherway also held military intelligence and defense business development roles at Booz Allen, and she was director of special projects for BAE Systems’ intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance business. She also was a U.S. Navy officer for more than two decades, including serving as aide to the chief of naval operations, and is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, the National Defense University and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Fortune 500 global management consultant Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. has acquired Tracepoint, a Fredericksburg-based digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) company, Booz Allen announced Monday.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Baton-Rouge based Plexos Group LLC, Tracepoint CEO Chris Salsberry, Brett Anderson and Rob Driscoll co-founded Tracepoint in December 2019. Tracepoint provides DFIR, remediation and cyber risk and resilience management services.
“Today’s announcement is a testament to our team’s exceptional work in building Tracepoint into the industry leader that it is today,” Salsberry said in a statement. “Booz Allen has decades of experience working across the most significant breaches and clients and will provide strong foundations from which we can continue to grow and expand our business.
McLean-based Booz Allen took the option to acquire the remainder of Tracepoint after initially investing in January, and the company plans to combine its Commercial Cyber business and Tracepoint in early 2022. Booz Allen is focusing on creating a business in incident response, enterprise consulting and managed services as part of its growth plan.
“Tracepoint has an exceptionally qualified team with strong brand recognition in the DFIR market and extensive relationships in its core sectors to expand our commercial offering and accelerate our growth,” Bill Phelps, executive vice president and leader of Booz Allen’s commercial business, said in a statement. “We have a proven track record of successful collaboration with Tracepoint and will leverage the complementary strengths of both businesses to cement our status as a leading competitor in the global marketplace.”

Five Virginia companies have won spots on an estimated $556 million U.S. Navy multiple-award contract to compete for task orders to provide technical services to the Office of the Chief Naval Operations Information Technology Department Command Information Office.
Three Fortune 500 contractors — McLean-based Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., Reston-based CACI International Inc. and Reston-based Science Applications International Corp. — along with Alexandria-based Capstone Corp. and McLean-based 22nd Century Technologies Inc., will be competing for services on the cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.
The contracts will run concurrently and have a 60-month base ordering period, with an additional six-month ordering period option that, if exercised, would bring the estimated value to $800 million. The base period begins in November and is expected to be completed by October 2026.
Work will be performed in Arlington; Pensacola, Florida; Millington, Tennessee; and other locations in the continental U.S.
Blazer has been with Apex Systems since 2007, after nearly 30 years with KPMG US LLC. The former U.S. Army captain has helped Apex, based in Glen Allen, grow into a firm with roughly 2,640 employees across the state.
Apex and its parent company, ASGN Inc., together form one of the nation’s largest IT staffing and services firms. Apex alone generated revenues of $630 million during the first quarter of 2021, accounting for 62% of ASGN’s revenue.
Virginia successfully lured ASGN from California in 2020, when the firm announced it was moving its headquarters to Henrico County and would be creating roughly 700 jobs in the commonwealth.

Richmond’s iconic advertising agency has continued to rack up awards, clients and revenue under the leadership of CEO Cavallo.

Prior to her hiring, Martin was dealing with bad press as sexual harassment allegations against the agency’s former chief creative officer came to light. With 315 employees in Virginia, as well as presences in Tennessee and West Virginia, the firm reported $60 million in revenue for the 2020 fiscal year and made good on Hartman’s growth goals. Brown Edwards recently expanded into Richmond with its merger of Gregg & Bailey PC, and in 2020, the firm acquired Covenant Real Estate Services LLC in Salem. In 2022, the business plans to move offices in Roanoke, providing more space and parking. The firm was able to weather the COVID-19 pandemic because, Hartman said in a 2020 interview, its employees had already embraced a “work anywhere, anytime” philosophy.

Pertz has been at the helm of The Brink’s Co. since 2016.
Like many businesses, the private security firm headquartered in Henrico County took a hit from COVID-19 in 2020. As many of its client businesses were shuttered due to the pandemic, The Brink’s Co.’s stock price fell from $96 per share in January 2020 to $37.99 per share in July 2020.
In June 2021, though, Pertz announced that Brink’s was on the road to recovery from the pandemic, with year-to-date revenue as of April hitting 96% of pre-pandemic 2019 levels. The company also saw its stock price rising back to $83 per share by March.
Despite the pandemic’s impact, 2020 was a good year for Pertz, whose salary increased by 65%, from $8.4 million in 2019 to $13.9 million in 2020.
Pertz, who has a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, has served as CEO for several global companies, including Recall Holdings Limited, IMC Global, Culligan Water Technologies Inc. and Clipper Windpower.

Under his leadership, Booz Allen’s stock price has risen rapidly, soaring 203% in just the last five years.
Rozanski has earned accolades for prioritizing diversity at the firm. He wrote a memo in response to the George Floyd murder, asking employees to share their own experiences. He received thousands of responses, which helped develop Booz Allen’s new Race and Social Equity Agenda.
In May, Booz Allen announced that the Department of Justice had closed out a 2017 criminal investigation into the firm’s accounting and indirect cost charging practices related to its federal contracting. Rozanski said civil investigations by the DOJ and the Securities and Exchange Commission may be ongoing.

Scheinerman first joined CIBT in 2019 as its chief financial officer, after serving as Wind River Environmental’s CFO. He’s held senior finance roles at several companies, including Irish auto parts company Aptiv plc.
CIBT provides immigration and visa services to help businesses and individuals navigate regulations all over the globe. The firm reports that it is the primary provider of this service to 75% of Fortune 500 companies.
Scheinerman has experience leading multinational complex organizations, having served in Shanghai as vice president of finance for Aptiv’s $9 billion Electrical/Electronic Architecture Segment, which had operations in 28 countries and more than 120,000 employees.
He has his work cut out for him at CIBT. As borders have been shut down due to the pandemic, CIBT faced major challenges over the past 18 months, and last October, Moody’s Investors Service Inc. downgraded the firm’s corporate family rating. With much of CIBT’s business dependent on international travel, the company began cost-cutting measures in 2020 to offset the decrease in revenue.

McLean-based Fortune 500 global management consulting company Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. has hired Matt Tarascio as a senior vice president in its Strategic Innovation Group, it announced Wednesday. Tarascio will lead the analytics and artificial intelligence business to support the Department of Defense.
Tarascio was previously Lockheed Martin Corp.’s vice president of AI, and its first chief data and analytics officer before that. Tarascio also held senior roles at Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky Commercial Aircraft and Services company in the innovation, engineering, programs and strategy departments.
Steve Escaravage, the senior vice president of Booz Allen’s analytics practice and AI services business, said in a statement: “Matt’s extensive domain knowledge, combined with his understanding of the unique needs of clients operating in the defense sector, make him a tremendous asset to Booz Allen and our clients.”
Tarascio hails from Australia and has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland’s Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center.
McLean-based Fortune 500 global management consulting company Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. was awarded a five-year, $674 million contract from the General Services Administration to maintain and support the growth of the Department of Defense’s Advana data analytics platform.
“In response to increasingly advanced threats from global adversaries, the Department of Defense has placed a clear priority on enabling ready access to data and analytics across its enterprise so its teams can make faster, smarter decisions that benefit their business, operations, and mission,” said Leslie DiFonzo, an executive vice president at Booz Allen, in a statement. “We are proud to take part in helping the Department of Defense continue the meteoric growth of the Advana platform by providing full lifecycle IT support, data engineering and analytics capabilities.”
Under the contract, Booz Allen will provide services to DOD utilizing data engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning operations, data visualization and cloud computing.
Led by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), Advana integrates hundreds of DOD business systems, ranging from financial and medical data to personnel and logistics information, into one platform accessed by more than 20,000 users across 42 DOD organizations.
McLean-based Fortune 500 global management consulting company Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. announced Tuesday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Herndon-based Liberty IT Solutions LLC for $725 million.
In a statement, Booz Allen President and CEO Horacio Rozanski said, “This acquisition supports our long-term strategy to drive continued growth by investing in innovative technologies and talent at scale. The addition of Liberty strengthens our unique market position as a leader in digital transformation, accelerates already robust growth in our health business and beyond, and delivers value for our people, our clients, and our shareholders.”
Liberty comes with a backlog of more than $2 billion in federal contracts and is expected to be “a growth driver within Booz Allen’s federal portfolio,” the company said in a news release.

McLean-based Fortune 500 global management consulting company Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. announced Tuesday that Matice Wright-Springer has rejoined the firm as a partner and senior vice president of the firm’s global defense group as part of its aerospace account.
Wright-Springer most recently served as vice president of government and corporate responsibility with ManTech International. In her new role, the former Naval officer will also lead the company’s efforts supporting the Department of Defense’s Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2).
Before her time with ManTech International, she served as a vice president at L3 Harris and as a principal director in the Secretary of Defense’s Office of Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy. She previously served as a senior associate and program manager with Booz Allen.
