Best-selling author and Southwest Virginia native Adriana Trigiani will return to Big Stone Gap this fall to shoot the film of her first novel that has the same name.

Trigiani wrote “Big Stone Gap” first as a screenplay but turned it into a book that launched her career as a novelist.

“Big Stone Gap and its wonderful residents will always hold a special place in my heart,” Trigiani said in a statement. “I am delighted that I will be able to revisit my home in the mountains of Southwest Virginia to shoot the film version of my novel.”

The film is eligible for film incentives worth up to $600,000 based on the amount of money the production company spends in the commonwealth and a $300,000 grant from Virginia’s Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission.
