Balfour Beatty Construction, along with design partners Burns & McDonnell and Timmons Group, have been selected by Rolls-Royce North America Inc. to design and build the new Advanced Aerofoil Machining Facility at the company’s Crosspointe campus in Prince George County.

The 90,000-square-foot facility will produce turbine blades and nozzle guide vanes for Rolls-Royce engines. It will be located alongside the jet engine disc manufacturing facility that opened at Crosspointe in May 2011.

The facility’s design is about 65 percent complete, with the site development permit approved and the structural steel and foundation permit under review by Prince George County. Balfour Beatty expects to complete construction on the new facility by the end of the year, and the first components would be produced in late 2014.
