AT&T said Wednesday that its mobile Internet network is now available in Goochland and Powhatan Counties, where it upgraded nearly a dozen cell sites to extend access for advanced mobile services and applications.
The upgrades will affect travelers, businesses and residents on state Route 522 between River Road West and U.S. 60.
“Demand for wireless speed is growing rapidly, and these network enhancements throughout Goochland and Powhatan Counties are just the latest examples of AT&T’s significant infrastructure investment,” J. Michael Schweder, president of AT&T Mid-Atlantic, said in a statement.
According to AT&T, the company operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network, including more than 31,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at various retailers across the country. Over the past five years, AT&T says in has invested more than $115 billion into operations and into acquiring spectrum and other assets that have enhanced its wireless and wired networks.
