Coffee’s work has an immediate impact on her neighbors. The McLean native leads North American operations for Transurban, an Australian firm that operates 53 miles of express toll lanes on the Capital Beltway and Interstates 95 and 395.
Among its projects, Transurban is extending toll lanes along I-95 by 10 miles to Fredericksburg. An expansion of toll lanes along the Beltway is also expected to better connect the commonwealth with Maryland.
Coffee graduated from the University of Virginia and serves on an advisory board for the Eno Center for Transportation. She admires her uncle, who, after a helicopter accident, had to relearn how to do nearly everything and did so with determination. After overcoming many challenges, he participated in fundraising walks, generating more than $250,000 for multiple sclerosis research and cures, she says.
