Zim American Integrated Shipping Services, a subsidiary of Israeli cargo shipping company Zim Integrated Shipping Services, announced in June its plans to move its headquarters from Norfolk to Virginia Beach, an expansion expected to create several hundred jobs over the next five years in Virginia.
Yochai, who joined Zim’s parent company in 2011, became the U.S. company’s head in October 2022. He had previously served as the executive vice president of transpacific trade since 2016, stationed at Zim’s regional office in Hong Kong. Zim American moved to the Hampton Roads region in 2001, just two weeks before the 9/11 terrorism attacks.
Zim American’s parent company has operations in more than 90 countries and serves more than 34,000 customers at 300 ports. It reported $12.56 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2022, up from $10.73 billion in 2021.
Yochai has a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Bar-Ilan University in Israel and an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology.
