As the global supply chain crisis brought on by the pandemic continues into its second year, Haifa, Israel-based shipping giant ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. reported record financial results for the first quarter of 2022, including $3.7 billion in revenue, compared with $1.7 billion in revenue during the same time last year.

The company attributes those results to improved freight rates and an increase in carried cargo volume. ZIM operates in more than 100 countries, and Goldman has led its American division since 2015. He previously worked for APL Logistics Ltd., holding posts in Hong Kong, Arizona and Singapore before joining ZIM.

In December 2021, Goldman was among several shipping executives to receive a letter from U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack appealing for help in mitigating disruptions for agricultural shippers on the West Coast as well as for the restoration of reciprocal treatment of imports and exports. Buttigieg and Vilsack cited carriers’ rush to return shipping containers, leaving them empty and clogging ports, and threatened “further examination” of the industry if not resolved quickly.
