Clarke founded MEB in 1982, the same year he graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. MEB started as a small federal government contractor with a handful of employees, serving military installations across the Hampton Roads area. It now has about 250 employees and posted revenue of $179 million for fiscal 2021. MEB’s portfolio includes projects ranging from the $68 million Virginia Beach Sports Center to the $228 million Pure Salmon indoor aquaculture facility in Tazewell County to upgrading components and systems for a major water treatment plant for the Hampton Roads Sanitation District.
Clarke serves on the board for Virginia Tech’s Myers-Lawson School of Construction and is a past board member for the Virginia Tech Foundation.
