A published poet and former law professor, Gillis joined KPMG as a partner in 1998 and is a 2006 graduate of the firm’s Chairman 25 leadership development program. He has more than 25 years of professional experience as an auditor, lawyer and tax professional, serving Fortune 500 and mid-market companies in diverse industries. He also has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
In his role at KPMG, Gillis oversees the Big Four accounting firm’s Chesapeake market hub, which includes Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. He is focused on leading its market strategy, developing more than 2,700 team members and growing KPMG’s brand relationships.
Gillis started his career as an auditor with Arthur Young & Co. in 1985 and in the 1990s practiced law for seven years in Atlanta. He enjoys travel, sports, music and literature, and serves on the board governing the Washington Nationals’ philanthropic projects.
