McLean nonprofit to serve as administrator of the National Security Engineering Center

The U.S. Air Force awarded McLean-based The Mitre Corp., a nonprofit that conducts research for government agencies, a $463 million contract to continue to serve as administrator of the National Security Engineering Center (NCES), the U.S. Department of Defense announced Monday.
NCES is a federally funded research and development center that provides systems engineering support and helps the DOD and Intelligence Community with electronics, information technology, sensors and cybersecurity.
Work on the contract will be performed in Bedford, Massachusetts, McLean and other locations in and outside the U.S. through Sept. 30, 2021.
The contracting activity Air Force Life Cycle Management Center obligated $158,100 in foreign military sales funds at the time of the award.
MITRE was founded in 1958 and has more than 8,400 employees.
